Women In Business Technology UW-Madison strives to increase female representation and break down barriers in the Business Technology industry, shaping the future environment for women entering the field.
Our events:
Women in Business Technology at UW-Madison aims to foster an inclusive community that encourages, supports, and celebrates diverse identities. As a student organization, we develop and implement meaningful DEI programming to emphasize the value of diversity within a group. By hosting wide-ranging DEI events such as speakers, workshops, and social gatherings, we strive to cultivate a sense of belonging and increase representation of marginalized groups in the business technology industry.
Helping women pursue what they want is an important value we hold in our organization. This includes
supporting
the mothers of Dane County. Elizabeth House is a non-profit organization and a member of the National
Maternity
Housing Coalition that helps support mothers in financial hardships by providing daycare, a safe environment
for
the mom and her child, support networks, effective parenting skills, food, and so many other amazing
resources.
We selected Elizabeth House because of its devotion to help mothers become emotionally healthy and
self-sufficient. Supporting mothers through these difficult times with goal-oriented action planning makes a
positive and sustainable impact on their lives. We are so excited to be supporting an organization like
this!
VP of Community Service
Michelle Yang
“Giving back to the community is something I’ve always valued. Growing up as the daughter of refugees I’ve always wanted to give back to those around me and also to those who have helped me. I never regret the amount of time or effort I put into giving back. Seeing the difference you can make in someone’s life is rewarding. Community service teaches you lessons like humility, grace, empathy, social responsibility, and the importance of awareness.”
VP of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Jaya Sabharwal
“Diversity, to me, encompasses an extensive range of backgrounds, traits, and experiences. By engaging with individuals who are different from ourselves, we are better equipped to address challenging problems in our personal and professional endeavors. I recognize the challenges faced by women and minorities, and I aspire to create diverse and inclusive spaces to ensure everyone feels they can reach their full potential.”
